Learn how to build the perfect strategic plan to move your farm and small agribusiness forward.

We understand. The business of farming is intimidating. You love working on your farm, but the financial aspects of business can feel overwhelming without support or a plan in place.

In this 5-part program, we’ll help you cultivate a strategic self-designed action plan to validate your goals, build your farm and engage with a community of entrepreneurs just like you.

The training is held virtually-through go to training & broadcasting from the Digital Learning Lab.

This program is complimentary to all participants.

Curriculum

  • Legal Structures and Business Framework – Kick start or expand your farm business by finding which business structure works best for your goals. Learn the fundamentals of the business operations and how they work. Learn to think outside of the box on which business entity might be best for you.
  • Site Analysis & Exploring Your Potential – Explore how you can learn your farms potential through analysis of all land and equipment so you can explore and move your business to its full potential. You will learn to think strategically in making decisions that will enhance your capacity.
  • Financial Planning for Your Business – You will learn how to understand your business financials so that you can make smart and strategic decisions that will make you profitable. You will explore all areas of business finance so that you are confident in your decision making as you move your business into a profitable venture.
  • Maximizing Your Profits and “Belt-Tightening” – Have you ever wondered if you are fully maximizing your profits? You will learn how to analyze decisions based on data and opportunities within the market so that you can reduce costs, expand profits, and grow a successful business.
  • Business Operations & HR – Learn how to ensure your business operations are designed for success. Hiring the right people for the task at hand is critical for any small business and you will learn the tips on how to find and grow the talent your business will rely on.

FAQ'S

Is there any cost to attend the program?

No. All workshops and courses are fully funded by our community partners.

Do I have to be Native American to attend Business of Farming in Indian Country?

Everyone is welcome.

Do I have to own land, have a farm or homestead to attend?

No. You can be in the dreaming stage, in the process of obtaining land or acquiring a farm, or operating a farm of any size.

Do I have to attend all the sessions to get a Certificate?

No. Students must attend 60% of the live sessions.

How do I get the information from a missed class?

Students who miss a class will receive a recording of the session.

If I need help with certain topics is there support for me?

Yes. We have a private Facebook group where instructors and students can discuss coursework, business development, and provide feedback.
