Join us for a live instructor-led 6-week series designed for new and beginning farmers who want to explore their options in farming, ranching, and agriculture. In this program, we’ll help you cultivate a strategic plan to validate your goals and engage with a community of entrepreneurs just like you.

May 17, 2023, (6:00pm-8:00pm) – Site Analysis & Exploring Your AgriTourism Potential  Explore more about AgriTourism and how you can learn your farm’s potential through analysis of all land and equipment. You will learn to think strategically in making decisions that will enhance your capacity to tap into the AgriTourism market.

May 24, 2023 (6:00pm-8:00pm) – Legal Structures and AgriTourism Framework for your Farm – Kick start or expand your farm business by finding which business structure works best for your goals. Learn the fundamentals of business operations and how they work. Learn to think outside of the box about which business entity might be best for you.

May 31, 2023 (6:00pm-8:00pm) – Financial Planning for Your Agriculture Business- You will learn how to understand your business finances so that you can make smart and strategic decisions that will make you profitable. You will explore all areas of business finance so that you are confident in your decision making as you move your business into a profitable venture.

June 7, 2023 (6:00pm-8:00pm) – Maximizing Your Profits and “Belt-Tightening-Have you ever wondered if you are fully maximizing your profits? You will learn how to analyze decisions based on data and opportunities within the market so that you can reduce costs, expand profits, and grow a successful business.

June 14, 2023 (6:00pm-8:00pm) – Understanding Your Market and Customers for your Farm Business – Learn how to find your niche, business concept and opportunity. Explore how you can fine tune your value proposition and begin to explore which customers are best for your business. Learn how to find the right customer for you –and keep them.

June 21, 2023, IN-PERSON – Business Operations & HR for your Agriculture Business – Learn how to ensure your business operations are designed for success. Hiring the right people for the task at hand is critical for any small business and you will learn tips on how to find and grow the talent your business will rely on.

**This class is held in partnership with Wayne Small Business Center and the North Carolina Small Business Center Network.

Is there any cost to attend the program?

No. All workshops and courses are fully funded by our community partners.

Do I have to be Native American to attend Business of Farming in Indian Country?

Everyone is welcome.

Do I have to own land, have a farm or homestead to attend?

No. You can be in the dreaming stage, in the process of obtaining land or acquiring a farm, or operating a farm of any size.

Do I have to attend all the sessions to get a Certificate?

No. Students must attend 60% of the live sessions.

How do I get the information from a missed class?

Students who miss a class will receive a recording of the session.

If I need help with certain topics is there support for me?

Yes. We have a private Facebook group where instructors and students can discuss coursework, business development, and provide feedback.
