Cultivating Farmers
Build and understand your farm as a business.
Sustainable Food Farming from A to Z:
Understanding the Power of Food Production
Classes begin April 19, 2022, at 6:00 pm (held in-person and virtually).
In this course, students will achieve first-hand knowledge of how food begins the journey from seed to table through their participation in the Green Zone and Culinary Lab on campus under the direction of Chef Lester Locklear, Culinary Arts Program Director.
By forging partnerships with local stakeholders, students will learn about sustainable farming techniques, including:
• Tending, planting, and harvesting the land
• Rediscovering traditional practices
• Understanding Packaging, storage and
delivery requirements
• Utilizing best practices and techniques in
food production and distribution
While focusing on how we can work together to become self-sufficient, students will learn about the politics of food systems and gain awareness of issues related to Native American and rural producers of agriculture, fisheries, the dairy industry, meat, and poultry production. We hope you join us for the spring session of Accelerating Your Agri-Business 8-week Business of Farming Series as well to enhance your learning experience before the Culinary Series kicks off.
